Chris and Emily were my first wedding to start the season, and I couldn’t have asked for a better couple (and bridal party)! Earlier in the week, the forecast called for 90% rain….I was praying hard we would be able to get some images outside…and we certainly lucked out. The only images we couldn’t get outside were the family formals, because it was pouring outside. And when I say pouring, I mean, my assistant and I got completely soaked (with an umbrella, mind you) when we went to get the lights out of my car….but at least we dried rather quickly! During their engagement session, I kept calling Chris the wrong name…Nick (I swear, he looks like a Nick, doesn’t he?) So, of course it took all I had to keep calling him by the right name, but he was a great sport…besides, most of his groomsmen went by nicknames, so we dubbed “Nick” as his new nickname. Emily was gorgeous in her lace gown and everyone went beyond their way to help make their day wonderful.
They were supposed to get ready in the church basement…but I had another idea! I’m so grateful that my brides trust me when I ask them to do things that are out of the norm. I’m pretty sure the basement wouldn’t have been as dramatic as this!
Chris’s mom made some wonderful cookies for the reception….I thought they made a good background to show off Emily’s amazing ring (good job Nick…I mean Chris!)
And we finished the night doing a little jig in the dark. It wasn’t raining like we wanted here, but there was a light sprinkle….I love how they turned out. Chris and Emily even gifted me their umbrella to use for future weddings, am I lucky or what? Congrats guys, you were awesome!
